The American

That’s me, your humble blogger, k-drama and BTS fan, book lover and avid reality TV watcher. I live in Melbourne, Australia, but born in America. I discovered BTS around the time of their Wings album and listened to them on occasion but it wasn’t until lockdowns when my love for them grew.

I’ve found life increasingly difficult to navigate. I blame the pandemic, but maybe it’s growth, or regression, or maybe changing priorities. I’ve been listening to a lot of BTS lately and watching their other content. It started as just something to do…something to play in the background while I got on with work. But then I started actually paying attention to what they’re saying. Their music (and general goofiness) has helped me get through some tricky feelings, dark times, as well as moments of elation and celebration. This is an account of my life, the shit that happens, and a snapshot of the characters that make it all so interesting…all with a corresponding BTS song to capture the mood. My intent is not to turn you into a fan (but maybe I will!). Maybe you’ll find their music helps you too. Or perhaps you just add something new to your playlist. Or you just think I’m fucking nuts. I don’t really care.

The facts:

  • Favourite BTS song: Louder Than Bombs

  • Bias: Suga (but i love all seven of them!)

  • Bias Wrecker: Jimin

  • Other stuff: I am a shopaholic, sneakerhead, chip connoisseur and dog lover.

The Brit

My long-suffering husband. He puts up with my clutter, aversion to housework, neurosis, shopping and self-doubt. He is a hero in every sense of the word. He’s from London (duh!) and we still have disagreements about English muffins (he’s so wrong - we can’t just call them muffins!) and how to pronounce yogurt.

The Gays

Our family in Australia and my lifeline. I don‘t want to think about where I would be without them.

The Floofs

Kirby and Pip. They are our furbabies. A spoodle and schnoodle respectively. We suspect that Pip is part rodent but that is unconfirmed.
